The ONE Thing
I just started reading this book, and it’s already pretty fascinating. It was written by billionaire Gary Keller (of Keller Williams Realty fame). In The ONE Thing, Keller (and yes, ONE is stylized like that repeatedly throughout the book) is demonstrating how prioritizing one thing over every other thing leads to big results.
One favorite from the first reading is this (the topic is "The Domino Effect”):
“Not only can one [domino] can knock over others but also others that are successively larger."
This means that if you're not getting what you want, it may be because your goal is too big to knock over with the size of domino you have; your goal may lie too far beyond what you can currently achieve.--
I find it poetic that the guy in this video knocks over a 100lb. domino with the touch of a pen. Maybe he's telling us we should all just write a little more.--
So in order to meet a goal bigger than the last one we met, we must find where we are in our development (for me, this harkens to the book Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience) so that we can be aware of our own capacity and then set our next goal appropriately. It's like lifting weights; if you wanna lift 500 pounds, you gotta be able to lift less first.
That's all for now.
Much love and blessing to you,
